Mr. Abhijit Mitra, Head – HR, Ernst & Young addresses the HR students

Mr. Abhijit Mitra, Head – HR, Ernst & Young, Kolkata addressed the MBA students with HR specialization on various issues related to human resources. He has been a regular educator and mentor to the BIBS Students.
His started the session by suggesting us that we should identify our passion and goal before choosing career. For example he mentioned that while opting for a specialization like marketing or hr, one should really think whether they like the subject or not, and should not choose for mere degree purpose.
He started the discussion talking about life and its various experiences and related to the examples which he has faced in his professional career. He related the discussion on life with one’s goal and how to achieve it. He pointed out minute things in day to day life which could have an impact on your goals and ambitions. For example, reading one’s cv regularly can enable the person to build confidence and have a better understanding of himself/herself.
Then he connected his discussion of CVs to facing the interview. Surprisingly he did not start with the Dos of interview but with the don’ts like not to be a story-teller, avoid boring expressions, not trumpeting yourself and expressing body postures and languages which are derogatory.
Then he spoke about the “Magic Tree Formula” i.e., the Dos of an interview, mainly the body language, match the predicate, match the topic and tone of discussion, use visual-auditory-kinesthetic principle.
Overall it was a learning experience from Mr. Mitra.
