‘Inclusive growth’ is what our nation is trying to achieve and all resources are being directed towards the same. Here at Bengal Institute of Business Studies, we have taken a step forward to work towards the development of the society. Human need, poverty and unemployment are the core needs for the establishment of CHETANA.

CHETANA means “enlightenment”. The journey of CHETANA, a not for profit initiative is established to provide to build better lively hood opportunities for the underprivileged society.

It is a BIBS student’s initiative to uplift the society we are living in and impart the values we have imbibed from our upbringing, surrounding, education and career.  CHETANA contributes towards community development through various activities in the field of education, social work, exhibitions, community development in and around Kolkata. It aims to address the challenges of society through meaningful participation and collaboration with committed individuals and institutions.

To celebrate the spirit of creating differences for better living, CHETANA has taken several endeavors to reach out to people and make them aware of their responsibility towards societal development. 24th & 25th September are one of those 2 days when CHETANA is celebrating the Festival of Lights i.e., Deepabali by organizing an exhibition and sales of gift items, the earnings of which will light thousands of houses of underprivileged and destitute who crave for happiness to enter their lives.

This exhibition comprises of items prepared and made by members like thalis of diyas, Ganesha idols, Home-made candles, Flower vases, Collage & Paintings, Home-made wax-houses with candles and diyas, Gel candles, Pancha-Pradips, the prices of which ranging from a meager Rs.15/- to Rs.300/-. The entire money collected from this initiative would go into the on-going developmental project of CHETANA to serve the under-privileged students.
