Mr. Gopal Pal Chowdhury, Zonal Manager – East India, MTR addressed our marketing batch of MBA 10-12. He is alumnus of FMS Delhi and Symbiosis completing his graduation and post graduation. He has more than 8 years of experience in multi-national companies. Before joining MTR recently he was with Kellogg’s for more than 6 years. His present company MTR is a group company of Okkla, a Norwegian conglomerate.

His address was totally in the format of an informal question and answer session where he defined various concepts of marketing and operations for us and related them to MTR which helped us understand his company in a better way. He took us through the entire history and the operations of Okkla and connected it to MTR.

He also emphasized on Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the sales jobs, noteworthy among them are value and volume. He mentioned that the primary skills required to be successful in sales are operational, functional and managerial. He continued his deliverables with the three parameters for defining a company culture i.e., systems, processes and people. Heritage, equity and innovations are the top three constituents of a brand – according to him.

He was also mentioning about the growth path of MTR as an organization. In the last three years it has grown from a company with 75 Crore turnover to 450 Crore turnover. Overall he is an excellent speaker and motivator and gave an insightful details of his company.
