IIM Shillong Director Ashoke K Dutta Visits BIBS
Ashoke K Dutta, one of the pioneers in MBA education in India, addressed the BIBS students on 16 August 2011. Mr. Dutta, after successfully leading the oldest business school in India, the Indian Institute for Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM), has recently assumed the Directorship of the newest Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Shillong, Meghalaya. He also has the credit of being the first Dean of the Business School at IIT Kharagpur.
His session started with an introduction to the world of MBA and it went on to enlighten students how to be prepared for a dynamic journey. Elaborating the concept of education, Professor Dutta said that perfect education can be attained when there is a blend of three elements namely a good course structure, students with right attitude and the best teachers. Building strong fundamentals are a must, he pointed out. He also emphasized the need to adapt to modern teaching methods and new age technologies . Blog writing he pointed out is a meaningful way to contribute to the management world in both India and aboard.
Professor Dutta, summed up the session by saying one needs to attain goals but not at the cost of ethics.
