Mr. Priyanko Kr. Banerjee, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Govt. of West Bengal addressed MBA 2010-12 HR students
Mr. Priyanko Kumar Banerjee, senior government official today visited BIBS our campus to address the HR students. He is presently working in the capacity of Assistant Labour Commissioner with Govt. of West Bengal.
His session focused on nuances of industrial relations and labour laws. He gave us an overview of the statutory laws governing employee labourer relationship. His session emphasized on the importance of these statutes and how they can be used to protect these labourers and nurture and fulfill their needs and demands.
He dealt with sensitive topics like industrial psychology and grievance handling. He then threw light on the vitality of conciliation as an effective tool to settle disputes. He mentioned that being in the labour department has to face hostility from all quarters including the politicians and labourers. He cited live examples from his personal experiences. He mentioned about the problems and how he coped with and settled those disputes instead of referring them to tribunals.
It was a very enriching experience on our part and we look forward to such informative sessions with Mr. Banerjee.
