Mr. Shiju Thomas, Sr. Manager – HR, Family Credit addresses BIBS Students
Mr. Shiju Thomas, Sr. Manager – HR, Family credit is a very young and fun loving person with immense knowledge. He is from Kerala, but born and brought up in Kolkata. He is in charge of the HR Operations of Family Credit across India. He has overall 5 years of experience. He has completed his schooling and graduation both from St. Xavier’s, Kolkata and MBA from Christ College, Bangalore.
He started with a quote, “If life is not good with you, it doesn’t seem that you do the same to life.” With this, he wanted to make us aware that whatever problems & obstacles we face in life, consider those as an opportunity bestowed on you.
He gave examples of his tough days during 2008 when recession hit badly. At that phase, his company was on the verge of closing down, they were forced to do lay-offs, reduce the team size all across and also tried to place those employees in different organization, so that they do not remain jobless.
The he followed up his discussion with quite a few management games which he conducted with us. He involved the whole batch through different round of activities which had a very good learning like how to achieve goals, how it’s important to be a good team player and also encourage your team members.
He concluded the session with his take, “In a group discussion, don’t interrupt when others are making a point, give opportunities to others as well. Its not necessary that only one person can be a winner, everyone can be a winner with proper co-ordination amongst one another.”
Overall it was a very interactive and engrossing situation. Lots of learning and take-away for young management aspirants like us
