Mr. Vikas Rathi, Zonal Business Head, Reliance Capital addresses BIBS Students
Mr. Vikas Rathi, Zonal Manager, Reliance Capital is a very young and fun loving person with immense knowledge. He has overall 15 years of experience in companies like Bharti Airtel, AT&T Global before joining Reliance. He has completed his B. Tech in IT.
He started the session on the note of employability factor and how one can become employable and not just look for help in getting a job. The main attributes according to him are adaptability, positive attitude and the fresh thoughts which constitute the employability factor.
He continued his discussion throwing some light on the differences between a leader and a manager, a leader and a boss etc. He specified that a leader should be inspiring; this quality is inborn and cannot be practiced and developed, while a manager motivates people and gets things done.
Mr. Rathi categorically mentioned not to give emphasis on technical skills to become employable and sunrise companies also do not look into experienced professionals for a job.
He then shared his tips on how to remain cool and natural while facing an interview board, like be honest, ethical and show your integrity. While facing an interview, candidate should not project their disadvantages and should convert those to his/her advantages. He concluded the session by asking all of us to identify our weaknesses and work comprehensively to convert them into our strengths in the two years of our management education because after that we would not have enough opportunity during our career.
Overall, it was a learning experience for all of us and would like to remember what Mr. Rathi has suggested for our betterment both as a person and as a professional.
