An Executive MBA is a specially designed MBA program for working professionals. The course is designed in such a way that working executives can pursue their MBA degree without having to leave their jobs.

The crucial difference between a regular MBA program and an Executive MBA program, is that in an EMBA program, the work experience of students’ professional experiences become an integral part of the curriculum. It adds value to the course and helps in real time learning, as well as encourages peer to peer learning. For professionals who wish to get their Executive MBA degree must be aware of the selection process that is followed.

Although the work experience is the main criteria for an Executive MBA, an entrance exam is the first step to getting admission into an EMBA program. Once you clear the entrance exam, there are certain steps which are followed like Statement of Purpose, Essay, Group Discussion and then a Personal Interview.

The most commonly accepted entrance exam for most MBA colleges is GMAT. However, this does not necessarily mean that it is the acceptable entrance test whose scores are required in an application process for EMBA admission. Entrance tests like CAT, CMAT, GRE etc are also given importance.

The primary eligibility criteria for those aspiring to do your EMBA is your work experience. Not only does your work experience matter but also the quality of your experience which includes your contribution to the company as well as its people.

Once you have cleared the primary selection process, there is a group discussion. In a group discussion not only is your knowledge tested about a wide range of topics but also your communication skills and leadership skills.

The final round of the selection procedure is a personal interview. This is an extremely critical part of the process as you are evaluated and decided whether or not you will add value to the program. The interview is the perfect opportunity for you to highlight your strengths and weaknesses and to show the interviewer why you are a good fit for the college. Highlight what makes you unique and how you can add value to the college during your interview.
